CAGE Code
Commercial and Government Entity Code
A five-character alphanumeric identifier assigned to entities that do business with the federal government, used to track facilities and support procurement.
What is CAGE Code?
The CAGE Code is assigned by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and is used across the federal government to identify companies, organizations, and facilities in procurement and logistics systems. It is separate from your UEI and SAM.gov registration, though the systems are linked.
U.S. companies receive a CAGE Code automatically when they register in SAM.gov. International companies must request a NATO CAGE (NCAGE) code through their national codification bureau. The code is tied to a specific physical address, so companies with multiple locations may have multiple CAGE codes.
Your CAGE code appears on contracts, in the Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS), and in various DoD logistics systems. It is required for SBIR/STTR proposals and most defense-related solicitations.
